Dance or Die vertelt het aangrijpende verhaal van een jonge danser in Syrië, Ahmad Joudeh, die in de kunst een manier heeft gevonden het oorlogsgeweld te trotseren. Dans is Ahmads leven, maar het wordt hem onmogelijk gemaakt in zijn door oorlog getroffen geboortestad Damascus. De kans om zijn geboortegrond te kunnen ontvluchten, grijpt hij dan ook met beide handen aan.
For the Syrian dancer Ahmad Joudeh, his war-torn birthplace Damascus was not only a heap of rubble, but also a stage. Still, he leaps at the opportunity to flee his native country. In the Netherlands, Ahmad trains at the Dutch National Ballet and performs both in the Netherlands and other European countries.
